Let God breathe new life into your spirit!  The Sun Grove Men’s Retreat is a chance to fall back, regroup and prepare for the battle ahead.  Our guest speakers and worship leader will take us deeper into the topic of authentic biblical manhood.  Small group discussion times will allow opportunities for the men to grow deeper and encourage one another.  The facilities at Alliance Redwoods make for great hangout time!  Whether taking a zip line through the trees or just admiring the beauty from the ground, there is plenty to do… or not do!  Allow God to refresh and recharge us during the Sun Grove Men’s Retreat.

Dan Palmer is the Teaching pastor at River City Christian.  He grew up in the church and as a young person was given the opportunity to join the facilities staff. Though he left Sacramento to pursue his education, Dan’s heart for ministry eventually led him back to his home church to become the College Pastor from 2001 to 2004. For the next several years he worked in the field of business management and development. When his childhood friend Jesse Smith became Senior Pastor in 2011, Dan returned to River City Christian (then First Covenant) for his third round of employment here, this time as the Associate Pastor.

Dan earned a BA in English from the University of California at Los Angeles and then a Master of Divinity from Talbot Seminary. He is married to Shanen and together they have three boys, Caleb, Tyler and Shane. Dan enjoys basketball, reading and a variety of adventures with his sons.

Scott Foster is a Senior Pastor at Bethany Church in Long Beach, who has served God’s people in two churches these last 24 years.   A native of California, he now makes his home in Long Beach, a culturally diverse city with amazing ministry opportunities.  As a Senior Pastor, Scott’s position allows him to teach, encourage, coach and develop both the church body and ministry staff at Bethany Church. His personal passion is to see people from all walks of life become disciples of Jesus and he has championed that cause all over the world.   He is currently the Vice-Chair of the Pacific Church Network, an association of evangelical churches focused on church planting and also give leadership to a Christian Counseling Network called CIFT. He is married to his best friend Erica and together, they have three daughters, Claire (5), Charlotte (3) and Quinn (2 months).
